West Virginia Businesses Against Trafficking is Looking for Partners

The State needs businesses to help stop human trafficking.

The Office of the WV Secretary of State is partnering with WV businesses to combat human trafficking. By partnering with state government in the "Businesses Against Trafficking" campaign, your business plays a crucial role in addressing the problem by prioritizing these three components:

1. Information for victims on how to seek help;
2. Information for businesses on how they can assist in the effort; and
3. Information for the public on recognizing signs of trafficking and reporting suspicious activity.

Businesses can support VICTI​MS by providing access to information on what qualifies as human trafficking, how to report crimes, send signals for help, and offer resources to assist in recovery.

WVBAT enlists the assistance of BUSINESSES and business associations across the state to collaborate with law enforcement and become a venue for disseminating information to everyone who plays a role in combatting the problem.

WVBAT supports the statewide PUBLIC “You Can” initiative to address human trafficking. “You Can” provides West Virginians a local reporting line to report suspicious activity to appropriate local, state, and federal authorities.​

The“You Can” program is a hub of information dedicated to eradicating human trafficking. The program has trained professionals who maintain around-the-clock access to information to assist victims and provide resources to combat trafficking. Address Confidentiality Program (ACP)

The West Virginia Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) is a program designed to help victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and human trafficking do business with government agencies and other entities without risking disclosure of their home address.​

This program prevents abusers or potential abusers from using public records as a resource to find their victims.
