Charleston, W.Va. — WV One Stop Business Director Jason Parsons and Business & Licensing Specialist Chad Miller were in New Orleans today to accept an award from the International Association of Commercial Administrators (IACA) for an innovation referred to as “the Business Startup Wizard.”
IACA recognized the Business Startup Wizard initiative as a 2019 Merit Award winner.
The Business Startup Wizard recently earned another national recognition—StateScoop’s one of the top ten “State IT Innovation of the Year” awards.
The Secretary of State’s Business and Licensing Division created the Business Startup Wizard as an online tool to help entrepreneurs identify the proper corporate structure that best fits their needs prior to completing the business registration process. The Business Startup Wizard asks users questions and then provides guidance based on their answers. Although helpful for providing detailed information about company formation, the Business Startup Wizard is not a legal advice application and entrepreneurs must still seek private counsel for official advice.
“I am very pleased with the success and national recognition of the Business Startup Wizard,” Secretary of State Mac Warner said. “We have worked very hard to make things as easy as possible for those doing business in the Mountain State. It’s rewarding to see all our hard work pay off.”
The Business Startup Wizard is available through the easy-to-use West Virginia One Stop Business Portal at https://business4.wv.gov. The Secretary of State’s office recently redesigned the website to make it as easy-to-use and user-friendly as possible.
According to a recent 2-minute online “New Business Customer Survey” launched by Secretary Warner, 70 percent of respondents said they were very satisfied with their business registration experience and 82.5 percent said the business registration process was very or extremely easy.
