Secretary of State to Offer Training Sessions for New Campaign Finance Reporting System

Charleston, West Virginia -Secretary of State Mac Warner announced today that his Office will conduct training sessions by webinar for the state’s new online Campaign Finance Reporting System (CFRS). Following the passage of Senate Bill 622 in 2019, all political committees which file with the Secretary of State’s office are now required to file campaign finance reports electronically.

The next reporting period is for the 1st Quarter Report, which is due between April 1 and 7, 2020. This report will cover any campaign transaction from Jan. 1 to March 31, 2020.

Note that any candidate or treasurer who files late, inaccurate or incomplete financial statements shall be assessed a $10 daily fine, which must be paid for by the candidate or the treasurer of the political committee personally. Additionally, the names of late filers shall be published publicly on the Secretary of State’s website. The only exception is if the report is late due to no fault of your own.

Individuals can access the Secretary of State’s Campaign Finance Reporting System at cfrs.wvsos.gov.

At this time, CFRS is not accessible by or compatible with Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge because the browsers lack sufficient support. CFRS can be accessed with a different browser, such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or another of your choice.

• Tuesday, March 24, at 10:30 a.m.

• Wednesday, March 25, at 6 p.m.

• Thursday, March 26, at 1:30 p.m.
