Registering a Trademark or Service Mark

What is Trademark vs. Service Mark?

A trademark offers legal protection for any word, name, symbol or device or any combination thereof that represents goods or products. A service mark offers similar protection for services. The term “mark” includes any trademark or service mark entitled to registration under West Virginia Code §47-2. However, there are different legal rules that protect each type of mark.

The resources below provide access to the registration form (online filing is not available at this time) plus important information about trademarks and service marks.
