Charleston, W.Va. - Several counties across West Virginia are still seeking poll workers for the General Election. According to WV Secretary of State Kris Warner, 15 counties are seeking poll workers. West Virginia's General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 3rd.
The requirements to be a poll worker include being a registered voter in your county, ability to read and write in the English language, and attending poll worker training. In some counties high school juniors and seniors in good educational standing may also qualify.
Poll workers are paid for both attending a training class and working the polls. Duties can include delivering election supplies to polling places, setting up voting rooms, verifying voter identities and registrations, greeting voters, issuing ballots, and securing the materials after polls close.

Polls are open on election day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. In most counties, poll workers work a full day, and they must arrive at the polling place before 5:45 a.m.
West Virginia has more than 1,600 voting precincts that require more than 8,400 trained poll workers on Election Day.
